UG in Spain

UG-in-Spain

Course Overview

Undergraduate degrees in Spain are designed to give students a broad but comprehensive understanding of a subject, with a concentration on its relevant field of work. Students must achieve a number of qualifications in order to graduate with this type of degree. The undergraduate degree is the bare minimum of qualifications required by most persons in a certain sector. A full-time bachelor’s degree is usually four years long. In their first years, students study general subjects to better determine the fields they are interested in. In their third and fourth years, known as junior and senior years, individuals can choose their major.

Eligibility Criteria for UG Program in Spain

You may be eligible for higher education studies in Spain if you have successfully finished upper secondary studies, hold a valid school leaving certificate, and qualify for higher education studies in your home country. You must, however, demonstrate your ability to communicate in English and/or Spanish. To achieve the eligibility criteria, you may be required to take extra qualifying courses and/or pass particular tests at the institution of your choice. Most educational institutes consider basic English proficiency examinations like IELTS, TOEFL, and others to be sufficient.

Intakes and Application Deadlines

The academic year at universities continues from September through June of the following year. Despite the fact that application deadlines vary per institution, there are normally three intakes for study in Spanish universities:

  • For studies beginning in the fall semester, the first week of June is the deadline. Late applications for studies starting in the autumn semester are due the first week of September.
  • For studies beginning in the spring semester, the first week of December is the deadline.

UG Course Duration in Spain

Associate degree: An associate degree is a two-year program that is usually offered in community colleges.

Bachelor’s degree: A bachelor’s degree is a four-year program given by colleges, universities or specialised institutes that grant degrees.

Tuition Fees

Government-set tuition prices at public institutions vary depending on your level of study and course of choice. Fees for a bachelor’s degree can range from €700 to €3,500 per year. The cost of tuition is determined by the number of credits taken rather than the semester or academic year. At all levels of study, private universities are likely to charge greater tuition costs.

Your monthly living expenses will likely be between €900 and €1,100, depending on where you choose to study. The cost of living in larger Spanish cities such as Madrid and Barcelona will be significantly higher than in smaller cities and towns.

Why Choose Spain for UG?

The first and most essential reason is the high quality of education available in this country at such low tuition prices. Spain places a greater emphasis on undergraduate degrees, offering structured courses and collaborating with non-academic partners. In terms of culture, art, literature, heritage, and so on, I don’t believe any country can compare to Spain, which is so rich in culture and tradition and has so many famous personalities. While studying in Spain, you can also learn Spanish, which, as cool as it sounds, is a really simple language to pick up. Though there are institutions that offer English courses, the options are limited, so you may not be able to get your chosen course in English. It would be easier to study Spanish in order to receive your preferred course at the university of your choosing. Spain is very well connected to its neighbours, so while you’re here, why not take advantage of the opportunity to visit other European nations that are only a short flight away, where you can study and relax, and what more could a student ask for?

Post Study Stay Back Option

International students can work in Spain after graduation, although it’s not easy. You will be able to apply for a “post-study work visa” after graduating with an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Spain, which will allow you to stay in Spain for up to one year after graduation and hunt for work. You should apply for this temporary residence permit at the Spanish immigration authorities at least 60 days before your student visa expires.
