Course Overview

A master’s degree is a graduate degree that is earned after completing or acquiring an undergraduate degree. Usually, it takes two years of full-time study. Some universities offer some courses in which masters can be done along with bachelors and it is a 5-year course.

Finding a Masters in Spain

The Master’s degree program in Spain has a similar structure to the ones offered in other European countries. Usually, the master’s courses in Spain have a duration of 1-2 years with the exception of some specialized degree programs that have a duration of about 10,16, or 18 months. In Spain, most of the degree programs are in the area of business. The application deadlines are different for every university in Spain however there are usually three intakes at Spanish universities:

  • The first week of June (for beginning in the fall semester)
  • The first week of September (late application for fall semester)
  • The first week of December (for studies beginning in the spring semester)

 

Eligibility Criteria for MS Program in Spain

In order to apply for a Master’s program in Spain, you need a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and further criteria is set by each university differently and the process may vary. These are some of the documents you may need to provide along, an academic transcript of earlier studies, a CV containing all your professional experience and research experience (if any) in your desired course, references from your professors or employers, documents proving proficiency in English or Spanish whatever the university requires, a personal statement telling them about your aims and why you want to study there and what are your career goals.

 

How to Apply for a Masters in Spain?

If you want to apply for a Master’s program in Spain then the documents required may vary on multiple factors. However, your bachelor’s degree would be most essential for pursuing a master’s program. Some other documents required are:

  • Academic Transcript
  • Motivational letter
  • Reference letter
  • Personal letter
  • Visa/residence permit

Depending on the language of instructions of the degree program you want to pursue there might be some other documents required for language proficiency:

For English

  • IELTS
  • TOEFL

For Spanish

  • DELE

Following are the steps you must follow for getting admission to the Master’s program in Spain:

  • Choose the program you want to do and then select the University of your choice
  • After selecting the university and the program you should check the admission requirements of the universities for international students on their website
  • Fill the application form and prepare all the documents required by the university
  • If you are a non-EU and non-Chinese citizen then you would have to seek recognition from the Spanish consultant nearest to you
  • Every application for the first cycle program in Spain will be through the University Application Service for International Students in Spain (UNEDasiss) system. Candidates can now start sending their applications along with the documents required to the university while waiting for the UNEDasiss to issue credentials
  • If your credentials are confirmed with the UNEDasiss, you must check if the university you have chosen require any language proficiency test ( For English- TOEFL or IELTS and For Spanish DELE or CELE)
  • After this, you must submit your application along with the documents required in the proper sequence and order as mentioned by the university
  • You would also have to submit an application fee
  • After submitting your application a candidate must wait for the letter of acceptance from the university
  • Once you have received the letter of acceptance you must apply for the Spanish student visa

 

Intake and Application Deadlines

In Spain, the academic year starts in September and ends in June of the coming year. Though application deadlines are different for each university there are usually these intakes at Spanish universities –

  • First week of June (for beginning in fall semester)
  • First week of September (late application for fall semester)
  • First week of December (for studies beginning in spring semester)
