All About Digital SAT
The Digital SAT is a standardized test used by most colleges and universities to make admissions decisions. The Digital SAT is a multiple-choice, Computer Adaptive Test administered by the College Board.
The purpose of the Digital SAT is to measure a high school student’s readiness for college and provide colleges with one common data point that can be used to compare all applicants. College admissions officers will review standardized test scores alongside your high school CGPA, the classes you took in high school, letters of recommendation from teachers or mentors, extracurricular activities, admissions interviews, and personal essays. How important Digital SAT scores are in the college application process varies from school to school.
Overall, the higher you score on the Digital SAT, the more options for attending and paying for college will be available to you.
What is Tested on the Digital SAT Exam?
The Digital SAT exam is a computer-based two-stage adaptive test with one Reading and Writing section and one Math section, each administered through two separately timed modules. The entire test lasts for about two hours.
The reading and writing section of the Digital SAT measures English language and arts and literacy knowledge through shorter passages from a wide range of topics that the students are likely to see in college. However, while the passages may be shorter, they maintain a strong focus on delivering text complexity and covering diverse academic disciplines. Each passage has a single associated question with four options.
The Math section of the Digital SAT tests the students on problems in and out of context through multiple-choice and student-produced response questions. The Math section is divided into two modules and calculators are allowed across the math section to take into consideration how the calculators are used in the real world and in schools. The students can either bring in their own approved calculator or use the in-built graphing calculator available on the exam application.
