Masters in Canada

Why should you know about the MBA deadlines in Canada? Canada remains a hotspot for master’s applications for international students. Considering such factors as top-ranked schools, along with safety and budget, Canada continues to attract students every year, thereby making applications extremely competitive. To ace the applications, you need to be prepared beforehand and the first step towards it is knowing your application deadlines and requirements. Application to study abroad programs is a long process involving shortlisting and finalizing schools that satisfy a number of criteria and preparing and collating documents. To ensure that we have a strong application, we must start the process early and knowing the MBA deadlines in Canada is the first step in strategizing an effective application.

General Application Timeline

Primarily, you need to know about the three main intakes in Canada to understand your MS and MBA deadlines in Canada

  • Fall Intake

Also called the September intake, this is the most popular one for applications in Canada. Applications usually open in September/October and close by December/January. During this intake, all universities in Canada accept applications to almost all the courses on offer. Several course options are also available in this intake. In other words, this is also the most competitive intake. To target the Fall intake, you should ideally start preparing almost a year in advance as that will allow you enough time to properly finalize the school list, take your tests, gather your documents, and prepare for the process.

  • Winter Intake

The secondary or January intake, the Winter intake in Canada is an extension of the Fall deadline. In other words, if you missed the MBA deadline in Canada for fall intake, you can apply for the Winter intake. This intake usually has deadlines between September and November and classes begin in January. While many schools offer the Winter intake, the choice of programs is still limited. Owing to the fewer course options, it is not as common among international students as the Fall intake.

  • Summer Intake

The Summer or May intake in Canada lasts between May and August with application deadlines in January /February. This is the least popular of all three intakes in Canada for students targeting the study abroad program. Usually, diploma courses in language, business or engineering fields are offered in this intake.

Tips for Meeting Deadlines

Regardless of the program, the school, the intake, and the deadlines, you need to always research well and start your application process in advance.

Read below to find out some tips for meeting the application deadline for a master’s in Canada.

  • Early Preparation

To meet the MBA deadlines in Canada, start preparing documents and applications well in advance. As a practice, you will have to start almost a year in advance. As the admission process includes submission of a number of documents, preparing for exams, and getting the required scores, starting in advance helps you ace the study abroad application process.

  • Research Requirements

Once you have finalized the list of schools, research the specific requirements for each program and university. Do not only check the website information, as it may not have information specific to the program that you are applying to. Create the application and find out the requirements for each program, so that you are not met with any surprises at the last moment.

  • Stay Organized

This is of utmost importance. Always use a calendar or a planner to ensure that you are on track. Keep a checklist of the requirements and the deadlines and use the calendar to track the same to ensure a smooth and efficient application process.

Application Process Overview

Study abroad programs are a dream for many Indian students. This is because the study abroad programs offer several opportunities and exposures in terms of perspective and hands-on learning, to name a few. However, the process of application to these programs can be very lengthy, leading to confusion and anxiety among students. The best way to ensure a successful application to and admit offer from your dream school is to be well-informed and organized about the entire process.

  • Research and Selection

This is the first and most crucial step. Do not only go by university rankings while selecting schools. Check for other factors including program resources, geography, climate, your budget, and scholarship options. Make a list of the schools that you finalize.

  • Documentation

Next, research the admission requirements for each university. Make sure that you check the requirements by specific program as these vary with respect to the courses that you opt for. Prepare a checklist for the same and work gradually to gather all documents. These documents will typically include transcripts, recommendation letters, essays, and test scores, among others.

  • Application Submission

Your program at a given school will lay out certain guidelines for the submission of your application. Make sure to carefully follow the same. Do not wait for the deadline to submit your application. Submit it once the application opens and you are confident that you are ready with all required documents.

  • Acceptance and Enrollment

Each university will have a timeline for sending in the offer and for you to confirm the same. Wait for all schools to send in their decisions and then respond based on your preferences. Once you have done the same, follow the guidelines, including making the necessary payments and preparing the visa to finally live your study abroad dreams.
