MS in Russia

MS-in-Russia

Course Overview

A master’s degree is a post graduate degree gained after receiving a degree. It generally requires 30-36 credits and two years of full-time study to complete.

A Master of Science degree is usually given in the fields of science, engineering, or medicine. Some universities offer postgraduate degrees in social sciences and management, including finance, marketing, economics, global logistics and supply chain management, human resource management, and others.

At the Master’s level, course content consists of a mixture of written assessments, exams, and a dissertation, which may or may not have to be written in Russian, depending on the subject and university you choose. Most Russian colleges utilize a ‘5-point’ grading system, with grades ranging from 2 to 5, though some use a Pass/Fail system.

Eligibility Criteria for MS in Russia

Some international students will need to get their educational documents legalised in the country where they were issued. This generally includes validating the authenticity of the documents in order for the relevant government departments dealing with your application to recognise them. Prospective students must supply the following information when submitting a Masters application to a Russian university:

  • An application form that specifies the discipline to be pursued
  • A certified copy of a bachelor’s degree certificate or its equivalent is required (original and a copy translated into Russian)
  • A Russian Consulate-accredited health insurance company’s health certificate and HIV blood test results
  • A certified copy of your birth certificate is required
  • A minimum of six passport-sized photos
  • You may be needed to take a language proficiency exam as part of the application process, depending on the university and degree you pick

Intake And Application Deadlines

Although application deadlines vary by university, they are usually open from March to July, giving you plenty of time to arrange your visa, money, and lodging before you leave.

MS Course Duration in Russia

The typical MS program lasts two years, which most students choose.

Tuition Fees

Foreign students’ tuition expenses at Russian universities vary depending on the institution and study program. If you are unable to secure a scholarship for your Masters, you will be charged between 3000 and 8000 € for a two-year degree at a state university.

Why Choose Russia for MS?

Because Russian degrees are internationally recognised, their participation in the European Higher Education Area has a positive impact on the number of international students.

Although you can pursue your Master’s degree in English, you will be required to take a Russian course, and knowing the local language will be quite helpful to your life abroad.

If you decide to study at a Russian state institution, make sure to take advantage of the Institute of International Education’s training and orientation programs for international students (IIE). Russians are proud of their rich and diverse past, and as an international student, you may participate in many of the country’s long-standing traditions. Russia has lower tuition fees than many other studies abroad destinations, and the cost of living, even in the city, is relatively affordable.
