How to Apply for GRE Exam 2020

Are you planning to take the GRE? The registration process may seem complicated, but once you know the process completely then your registration becomes a hassle-free experience. If you are aware of the process thoroughly, it is convenient for you to choose the date and location for your test and you have enough time to send your scores to the schools of your choice. Before applying you need to find out what all you need to do. Let us find out now:

1.     Personal Information

Be prepared to give your personal information, including your full name (the way it appears on your test ID) along with other information such as date of birth, home address, email address, phone number, and social security number (optional).

2.     Your Payment Method

At the end of the GRE application process, you must pay the amount asked either by a debit or credit card. It is suggested to have your card with you so that you have all the information ready once you reach the payment level.

You can also make payment by other means such as:

  • PayPal
  • eCheck services
  • Money order, certified check, or voucher

For more information on how to pay for the GRE, go to the ETS website.

3.     Choosing your date or time

Choosing a date ahead of time may help you find out the best suitable time for you to take the test. The computer-delivered GRE (the version most people take) is available year-round and you have test dates to choose from.

Let us find out the 3 step process for GRE registration:

Step 1: Set Up Your Account

Creating your account is the very first step for your GRE registration. This account will be used for your GRE registration, view your scores, and send score reports to schools. It will not take much time to set up your account.  Here you need to fill in some basic information such as your name, email, and home address. Pay attention when entering each and every detail you share as you won’t be able to change it once the registration is done.

Step 2: Choose your Test Center and Test Date

Next, select the country where you’ll take the GRE. After you’ve selected your country, state, and city, a list of testing centers and their addresses will show up. You can’t click on any of them though; instead, click “Continue to Seat Selection” in order to select your desired testing center.

You’ll be sent to a page with a bunch of test policy information, such as when to arrive at the testing center and what to bring (you can always come back and review this information later). Here an important thing to note is that once you’ve selected a date and test center, you’ll have 20 minutes to complete your registration hence it will be canceled.

Step 3: Complete GRE Registration

Once you’ve selected the date and time of your test you will be asked a bunch of questions but here you can answer the one with the red asterisk. Please note that the unanswered questions will have no impact on your GRE score. You’ll then be directed to the payment page and once the payment is made you will be asked to review the information you submitted and confirm your testing appointment. Once the registration is done you’ll get an email to check your admission ticket on “My GRE “Account. You need to print this off and bring it with you on test day (along with an approved ID) to take the test.

Good Luck!
