How to Apply for GRE?

Are you planning to take the GRE and wondering how to apply for the GRE exam? The GRE exam application and registration process may seem complicated, but once you know the process completely then your registration becomes a hassle-free experience. If you are aware of the process thoroughly, it is convenient for you to choose the date and location for your test and you have enough time to send your scores to the schools of your choice. Before applying you need to find out what all you need to do. Let us find out now:

 

STEP 1: Visit the ETS Website

To register for GRE testing, go to the ETS website and click on the ‘ETS Account’ icon in the right top corner of the page. Make sure the name you use to register is exactly the same as the name on the ID documents you’ll present at the testing center.

STEP 2: Create Your Account

If you don’t already have an account, choose ‘Create an Account.’ You will be directed to a three-stage procedure. Pay attention when entering each and every detail you share as you won’t be able to change it once the registration is done.

 

STEP 3: Fill Up Your Personal Information

The first stage entails entering all personal information including your full name (the way it appears on your test ID) along with other information such as date of birth, home address, email address, phone number, and social security number (optional).

STEP 4: Set Up Your Username & Password

The second stage entails entering your Username, Password, Security Question, and so on. This will generate your login information.

Your account will be created once you have filled in all of your information, reviewed and submitted the form. In addition, an email verification link will be sent to the email address you provided in the account creation form. To complete verification, click the same.

 

STEP 5: Register for Your Appointment

Sign in to the ETS GRE website after creating an ETS account. When you log in, you’ll be taken to your personal GRE Home page, which will include your ETS account information. To begin the GRE registration process, click the blue Register Button.

STEP 6: Select GRE Exam Date & Time

You will now be directed to the test centre and the date and time of your choice. Once you’ve completed your GRE Timeline, you’ll be able to finalise and register for the test centre, date, and time of your choice.

You’ll be sent to a page with a bunch of test policy information, such as when to arrive at the testing center and what to bring. Here an important thing to note is that once you’ve selected a date and test center, you’ll have 20 minutes to complete your registration hence it will be canceled.

STEP 6: Select GRE Exam Date & Time

 

STEP 7: Verify Your Details

You’ve reached the end of the GRE registration process. You’ll need to confirm the following: Your personal details, Choose whether you want to use the GRE Search Service, which allows universities to contact you for admissions. Enter your background information and, if interested, select any test prep material.

STEP 8: Pay the GRE Registration Fee

After entering all of your information, you will be directed to the payment page. You can pay using any of the following methods: Debit Card, Credit Card, PayPal, or Fund Transfer (must be a US bank).

 

 

Confirmation Mail

After you pay, you will receive an email confirming your GRE Exam date, location, and time. The same information is available through your ETS account.

What is the process of GRE Online Application?

You need to create or have an ETS account to register online. Using the calendar, you can select any of the available slots. Then fill in your personal details and proceed to checkout. The registration fee in India is $228. After the payment, you will get a mail on your registered mail for your GRE test confirmation. You can register at least two business days before your preferred test date.

How to book a GRE slot?

Create an ETS account at ets.org. GRE test is offered at a test center or at home. Appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Register early to get your preferred test date and test location.

How do I register for a GRE Subject Test?

GRE Subjest test can be registered online or by mail. In order to register online, you should have an ETS account. If you wish to register by mail, complete the Registration form for GRE subject tests and mail it to the address mentioned on the form along with the payment. It might take around 4 weeks for processing the forms sent by mail. Also, registration forms cannot be faxed. The GRE Subject Tests are offered at paper-delivered test centers worldwide up to three times a year in September, October and April.

How do I reschedule the GRE Exam?

You must reschedule your GRE General Test no later than four days before your appointment or your test fee will be forfeited. You will be charged a fee of $50 for rescheduling your test registration. You can reschedule your test registration online using your ETS account.

How many times can I take the test?

You can take the GRE revised General Test once every 21 days, up to five times within any continuous rolling 12-month period (365 days). It will be counted as an attempt even if you cancel your GRE test scores. You can retake the GRE test any number of times in your lifetime.
