Exam Pattern/ Format

The Advanced Placement Program offers 34 courses and exams across mathematics, sciences, social sciences, arts and world language. The Advanced Placement exams’ duration varies from 90 minutes to 200 minutes. It depends on the subject. The exam consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and a free response section.

The examination is offered in paper and pencil format.

Scoring Method

In the five-point Advanced Placement score system students with an AP score of three or higher are said to be successful, and have the opportunity to apply for the AP level college courses. Registration Process for AP

• To register for the AP exam online students should create a College Board account
• Students need to pay test centers directly for the exams.
• Students will receive an admission ticket from the test center once the seat is confirmed,
• The Registration is final once the student registers for the exam online and pays the test center.
• Even if the student has paid to the test center but has not completed the online registration for the AP, the student will not be able to give the exam.
• The student needs to do both these things for complete registration.

Who creates the AP curriculum, and what courses are available for exams?

AP (Advanced Placement) in India – Recognition by Association of Indian Universities (AIU)

The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has granted recognition to the AP Exam. Students who wish to pursue their undergraduate studies in India can take the AP exam and courses and will be issued equivalence certificates that will enable them to enrol in a bachelor’s degree program at a university in India.
