How to Register for the TOEFL Exam

Registration

TOEFL, or Test of English as a Foreign Language, tests non-native speakers’ ability to use and understand North American English as it is written, spoken, heard, and understood in college and university contexts. You can retake the test only three days after taking the first TOEFL test.

There are three ways to register for the TOEFL Exam:

  • Online, at the ETS website
  • Through E-mail
  • By phone

Before registering, one must decide on the test center and check the dates that are available at that center. The dates depend on the test center one chooses. The online registration can be done anytime as the registration is open 24/7, however, registration closes seven days before the actual test date and three days prior in case of last-minute registration with an additional late fee of 40 USD over the normal fee. Registration can be completed by paying the registration fee of 180 USD (in India) using a VISA credit or debit card.
