Based on its successful vaccine rollout, the Canadian Government is all set to commence the first leg of easing the border measures for travellers entering Canada.
Starting 5 July 2021 at 11.59 pm EDT, fully-vaccinated travellers (upon obtaining permission to enter Canada) need not quarantine or take a COVID test on day eight. A traveller will be fully vaccinated if he/she has received the entire series of a particular vaccine [Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD or Janssen (Johnson & Johnson)] or a combination of vaccines at least 14 days before entering Canada. Such travellers must be asymptomatic, carry a paper/digital copy of their vaccination documentation (in English/French/certified translation) and provide COVID-19-related information electronically through ArriveCAN before arrival in Canada.
To be eligible for the above new measures, fully-vaccinated travellers must adhere to the pre-and-on-arrival testing requirements. They must also follow all public health measures in place – wear a mask; keep a copy of their vaccination/test results, maintain a list of close contacts for 14 days after entering Canada.
Travellers not fully vaccinated must continue adhering to the current testing and federal quarantine requirements; also, they must stay for three nights at a government-authorized hotel before departing to Canada.
