How long does it take to prepare for the GRE?

Is 6 months enough for GRE preparation?

Yes, it is enough if you study sincerely. GRE preparation will take anywhere from 4 to 20 weeks. If you include in the time it will take you to take the mock examinations, the preparation period can range from 6 to 24 weeks.

When should I take the GRE?

There are two factors that decide when you should take the GRE test. The first one is your readiness. Based on your practice, you will know where you stand and if you are ready to take the test and reach the target score. The second factor is the university requirements. It takes 10 to 15 days for ETS to share your score with the selected recipients. Also if you plan to repeat the test in case of low scores, you have to make leeway for that too.
