URI is happy with the distinguished students and researchers who conjure their faculty and of the excellence and commitment to their students they demonstrate within the classroom, laboratory, and in their role as mentors and advisors. There are 751 regular teaching faculty of which 87% of full-time faculty have academic degrees or terminal degrees. The URI student to college ratio is 17:1.There are more than 120 student organizations at URI, from cycling and sailing to slam poetry and meditation. Students can get involved with the student newspaper or radio station. They can also develop their leadership skills. On-campus jobs and off-campus internships can open doors for students that they didn't even know were there. The university's fitness areas, wellness resource center, personal training, and group exercise classes provide a positive outlet to support students' physical and mental well being. Nationally certified professionals lead its programs to encourage them to achieve sustainable dietary, fitness, and wellness goals.

The university's campus is minutes from the beach, thirty miles south of Providence, seventy five miles from Boston, a hundred and sixty miles from NYC, with Newport simply across the bay. The Kingston Amtrak Station is correct down the road from field, T.F. inexperienced airdrome solely twenty minutes away, and for Rhode Island destinations, RIPTA runs dozens of buses from campus each day.

You may receive additional support from the Office of National Fellowships & Academic Opportunities, which advises and assists qualified undergraduates interested in applying for national and international scholarships and fellowships. ONFAO also supports recent URI alumni and current graduate students in applying for certain highly prestigious international awards, which require nomination or endorsement.  Read less
