Some of the University's extensively recognized programs are earthquake sciences & engineering, the humanities, neuroscience, biotechnology, environmental science, bioscience, and advanced autonomous systems. The University of Nevada's student residence halls and living education communities aim to maximize student achievement by providing space for partnership and community.

It offers nine advanced and relaxed residence halls, each conveniently situated near the center of campus and just a short walk from the William N. Pennington Student Achievement Centre. All students can find resources and assistance for academic and personal achievement. Besides this, The University is home to 33 different dining spots and eateries -- from Starbucks to local sub favorite, Port O' Subs. They also offer various dining and meal plans for students living on-campus and community meal dreams for students living off-campus. The University is dedicated to supporting a healthy living environment with eminence recreational programs and facilities that complement the educational process with more than 108,000 square feet with three basketball gymnasiums, areas for weightlifting, cardio training, mind-body training, a fitness staircase, 1/8th mile running track and a multitude of new fitness classes and activities, the fitness center cares a healthy learning environment. Also, there are more than 35 different student clubs for students to foster their recreational interests.

Sited at the Sierra Nevada foot in the picturesque Truckee Meadows, Reno is one of the country's best-kept secrets. Reno is one of America's most acceptable small cities. It is a flourishing tech hub that presents various year-round events, including sporting events, food fests, performing arts, concerts, and more. The University of Nevada Reno's campus now covers 290 lush acres with 180 buildings, 60 research facilities, 12 museums and galleries, and 11 schools and colleges.

The University of Nevada, Reno awards scholarships based on a holistic review of the application for admission, the scholarship application and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Institutional Methodology for FAFSA-Ineligible Students form. There are very limited funds available. Depending on funds availability, the University makes scholarship awards to second-year students who have earned at least a 3.5 cumulative University of Nevada, Reno GPA. Scholarship amounts may vary from year-to-year and by GPA.

• The Governor Guinn Millennium Scholarship Program provides scholarships to Nevada high school graduates that meet eligibility requirements.
• The National Merit Scholarship provides select students with up to $16,000 per year for up to four years of consecutive undergraduate study at the University of Nevada, Reno.
