The City Centre Campus, located at 135 Western Avenue in Albany, is a traditional Georgian style set of buildings that served from 1909-66 as the main campus. It houses the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy, the School of Criminal Justice, and the School of Social Welfare, as well as the new College of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

The undergraduate degree program consists of 13,598 students, and the postgraduate program has 4,346 students. The total strength of the university is around 17,944 students. It is in affiliation with APLU and the State University of New York.

The University of Albany Foundation is providing hundreds of endowed scholarships—many of which are managed by Student Financial Services. Scholarships are awarded to new and continuing applicants on the basis of academic achievement, financial requirements, leadership, service, ability and the qualifications needed by the scholarship donor.
