The Advanced Graduate Certificate in Operations Research provides students with the fundamental applied mathematics tools for developing protocols for the efficient management of private companies, government agencies and non-profit organizations. In today's global marketplace, organizations need to be efficient to survive. The Operations Research program will provide formal training in methods of optimization, modeling and statistics used in operations research. The objective of this program is to help individuals assist organizations to make efficient use of their resources so as to maximize efficiency and minimize net cost. Graduates of this program may be able to advance in management and organizational planning positions within their current employment or obtain new employment. It is recommended that applicants to the program hold a bachelor's degree in mathematics, engineering or computer science. Entry requirements for SUNY Stony Brook University
A bachelor's degree in mathematics, a natural science, engineering, an applied science, or a social science with a strong mathematics background.
B. A minimum overall cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0, and at least a 3.0 average in all courses in pertinent or related fields.
C. Results of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test. International students must also obtain TOEFL scores (minimum Total score of 80 or better for MS admission and 90 or better for PhD admission, no exceptions). GRE and TOEFL scores should be reported by ETS (Educational Testing System) to the Graduate School. The Institutional Code needed is 2548 and the Department code is 0702 (for GRE only) .
D. Three letters of reference and all transcripts of undergraduate and/or graduate study completed.
