The IU is home to hundreds of academic and technical organizations, ranging from business-oriented groups such as the Investment Banking Club to more academic-oriented events such as the Folklore Students' Association.

The Student Recreational and Sports Center (SRSC) and the Intramural Center offer everything students might want, whether they are a dedicated athlete or a casual fitness enthusiast. Students can arrange court time for a pick-up basketball game, try out free equipment and play some tennis, swim laps in one of the many indoor and outdoor pools, or simply go to any of the 80 plus community fitness classes offered each week. Nestled in the rolling hills of southern Indiana, IU Bloomington offers the kind of scenery students would expect from the quintessential college campus. From its original 10 acres south of downtown, IU Bloomington has expanded to almost 2,000 acres northeast of the city. Students will walk through such memorable landmarks as Dunn's Woods and the Fine Arts Plaza and enjoy a picnic on the banks of the Jordan River.
