The Club Sports Program encourages participation in a wide range of events, complementing the Intramural Sports Program of the University and the Outdoor Recreation Programme. They are designed to help students build leadership, financial, and organizational skills through the ability to set up, coordinate, and run their own club. In addition, there are more than 500 student clubs and societies, 34 team sports, 17 intramural sports, and 6 campus media organizations.

The magnificent college campus is located on 20,000 acres in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Range, on the shores of Lake Hartwell. The Snow Family Outdoor Fitness and Wellness Center has athletic fields and a broad beach where students have access to Lake Hartwell. Canoes and kayaks are accessible for free at Clemson Outdoor Recreation and Education.

For a few reasons, students are most often awarded scholarships: academic merit or financial need (or a combination of both). At Clemson University, there are four main scholarship categories: (First Year Freshmen Scholarships, Diversity Scholarships, Undergraduate Scholarships, Additional Clemson Scholarship Opportunities), For the eligible first year, as well as for continuing students, university scholarships and grants are automatically considered. Before any university awards are considered, transfer students must complete one full-time semester at Clemson University.
