Computer Vision, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (mostly Deep Neural Networks) are fundamental technologies that can be used to enhance images/videos captured by digital cameras for improved viewing experience (mobile devices, broadband services, laptops and TVs), process them and analyse them for intelligently gather information (e.g. security, surveillance, sports, health, environment, space, autonomous vehicles, drones and driverless cars etc.). A number of PhD research topics in these areas can be offered with industry collaboration where required. The emphasis would be carrying out fundamental research that is very close to industry applications, resulting in generating impact both within academic research communities and beyond.
