Our one-year Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) prepares you to teach the computing secondary school curriculum. You’ll explore how to teach children computing and digital skills through hands-on activities such as programming and practical projects using Microbits, Raspberry Pi's and robots. On this course, you will study with your PGCE Computing group, but also have the opportunity to work with other subject areas. You’ll consider how to plan lessons, reflect on your planning, learn how research can develop your teaching practice, and look at ways to develop your teacher persona. The sessions will include learning how to teach theory topics including algorithms, data structures data structures, keeping safe online and programming languages used in secondary schools (such as Python). Peer teaching will allow you to work on GCSE and A-Level theory topics, so that you understand the tasks the students will be doing in school.
