Yoobee Colleges formally formed in May 2019. The creative minds and legacies of South Seas Film & Television School, Animation College, Yoobee School of Design, AMES The Institute of IT and Design & Arts (Canterbury) join up forces to become Yoobee Colleges, an interdisciplinary college with seven campuses situated across New Zealand. All the colleges have rich histories, dating back 30 years in some cases, and they have been working collaboratively for numerous years to offer complementary pathway programmes.
The official connection of these forces under one umbrella reinforces these relationships, allowing greater pathway choices for students and stronger educational results, as some of the best creative educators in New Zealand come together for the joint determination of training the countrys top creatives and IT professionals and getting them into satisfying careers.

Yoobee Colleges is dedicated to developing generation after generation of New Zealand’s leading creative and technical talents. The focus is on practical teaching where students get to own their craft. Students won’t spend three years in lectures, in its place they will spend their time creating skills and producing industry-quality work. Small class sizes form the backbone of the Yoobee Colleges educational model.
Yoobee has four campuses in Auckland, stretching from a Hollywood-style production studio to high-tech animation and technology centres. Wellington Campus is home to Peter Jackson’s famous Weta Studios and New Zealand’s capital is constantly ranked one of the best cities in the world to live. The original Yoobee, the Christchurch campus is getting an upgrade, with a new build opening in July 2019.
With space for 700 students, the brand-new central-city campus is custom-made for establishing and collaborating. Situated in Rotorua’s main shopping precinct, the Rotorua campus features fully equipped technical and computer labs as well as a spacious and well-lit life drawing room.
