Engineering Geology is a postgraduate teaching and research programme housed in the Department of Geological Sciences. Students will normally have a background in geology or geotechnical engineering and most will complete one year of postgraduate coursework before undertaking research at the Masters or PhD thesis level, although direct entry to thesis level is also common.Our Engineering Geology programme prepares students for careers in research or industry by in-depth pursuit of a selected group of topics within geological sciences.

Entry requirements for University of Canterbury
The minimum requirement to apply for doctoral study is that you should have completed, or be in the process of completing, a research-focused honours degree or master's degree.Enrolment in a PhD requires completion of a research-focused honours or master’s degree at first-class or second-class division 1 level (or equivalent qualifications).
IELTS: An average score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in reading, writing, listening and speaking
TOEFL iBT :Total minimum score of 90, minimum score of 19 in reading, writing and listening
TOEFL PBT :With a minimum score of 575 and TWE with a minimum score of 4.5
