The Photography curricula merge new and traditional techniques in the context of the critical concerns of contemporary art practice. Students explore a full array of conventional and experimental processes through coursework and independent study in darkrooms and studios available for work in black and white, color, large format, non-silver, studio, and digital photography. The MFA concentration in Photography is 3-year program comprised of intensive critical investigation of the medium. The emphasis is on experimentation and research in contemporary lens-based art practices that inform individual creative and intellectual objectives. Graduate students in photography receive private studio spaces and have access to analog, digital, and hybrid means of creating images. In the final year, MFA students present a Capstone project in a solo exhibition, along with a well-researched paper that supports the exhibited work.
