Candidates for the non-thesis Master of Engineering degree must complete a minimum of 30 hours of graduate course credit. At least 15 of the credit hours must be from the Petroleum Engineering Department.
Up to 12 graduate credit hours can be transferred from another institution, and up to 9 credit hours of senior-level courses may be applied to the degree. All courses must be approved by the student's advisor and the department head. No graduate committee is required. No more than six credit hours can be earned through independent study.
The Florence Caldwell Achievement Scholarship Program awards are sponsored by Mines, and awarded to three incoming first-year students at Mines each year. U.S. citizens or permanent residents students are considered for Mines scholarships. Students are required to pass a minimum of 24 credits each academic year (fall plus spring semesters) with a 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA to avail scholarships.
