The department of civil engineering is a community of learners committed to providing outstanding educational opportunities for our students. We also conduct advanced research in civil infrastructure design and environmental preservation.

K-State CE offers comprehensive programs leading to the degrees of master of science and doctor of philosophy in civil engineering with specialization in environmental and water resources engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural analysis and design, and transportation and materials engineering.

Active research programs are maintained in each of these areas with the goal of integrating graduate study, research, teaching, and engineering practice. K-State CE's MS requires (i) 24 hours of coursework and 6 hours of thesis, or (ii) 28 hours of coursework and 2 hours of the project, or (iii) for distance students - 30 hours of coursework and a final exam.

The MS degree can be completed in one of the following areas of specialization: Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Water Resources Engineering.
