The undergraduate curriculum provides training in mechanical engineering theory and practice. The curriculum is Based on a strong core of engineering science courses common to all engineering programs. It also provides excellent preparation for graduate study.By choosing electives under the guidance of a departmental academic advisor, the student may specialize in one or more of the following fields: Mechanical Design, Mechatronics, and Thermal/Fluids.Consider a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering. These programs are part of the Charles W. Davidson College of Engineering, which is ranked #3 in the nation among public universities that do not offer a doctorate. We place hands-on labs and projects as a priority, and interaction with faculty is substantial. Mechanical engineering students focus on mechanical design, mechatronics, thermal-fluids engineering, or a combination of those areas. Our BS and MS graduates work in industries including product design, sustainable energy, transportation solutions, biomedical devices, aerospace systems, sensor technology, and semiconductor manufacturing.
