The Bachelor of Fine Arts Program in Kinetic Imaging prepares students to use video, animation, sound and emerging media for the purpose of art-making, self-expression and experimentation. Undergraduate classes include basic video editing techniques, a historical overview of contemporary media art, theory and production of media-based sound, techniques and principles of experimental animation, 3D computer graphics and animation, and individual development of the students portfolios and demo reels.

The Department of Kinetic Imaging prepares students to use video, animation and sound for the purpose of art-making, self-expression and experimentation. The program is designed for students who want to study video art, sound design and experimental two- and three-dimensional animation. Emphasis is placed on artistic uses of the media. All outstanding freshman applicants are automatically considered for university-level scholarships if they apply for the fall semester by Nov. 1 — no separate application needed. What’s our criteria? Recipients are selected based on academic merit; leadership, community service and artistic talent (when applicable) also may be considered. A limited number of scholarships are also awarded to transfer applicants from the Virginia Community College System who have earned a minimum of 45 semester credit hours.
