The Finance Program at UW-La Crosse provides an excellent mix of theoretical and practical knowledge. Students are exposed to a variety of teaching methods ranging from lectures and group discussions to problem-solving case analysis and independent studies. The program provides a foundation in the primary financial areas: corporate finance, investments, and financial institutions.

Students then have the flexibility to explore the basic areas in greater detail or to branch out in other financial areas such as international finance, real estate, financial planning, or insurance. The department also offers a finance major with risk, insurance, and financial planning emphasis for those particularly interested in that area.

Through the UW-La Crosse Foundation, UW-La Crosse is able to award over $1.2 million in scholarship money each year. After you have completed the UWL Foundation application, you can search through our Outside Scholarship Database. Finding private scholarships is difficult for international students because of a specific requirement that asks for U.S. citizenship. International students will have the most success finding scholarships that do not have citizenship requirements. The SRC would be happy to assist any international student with their search to find specific scholarships associated with who they are and what they want to accomplish. One last opportunity is through the Office of International Education and Engagement. Through this UWL opportunity, you can apply for a bi-annual award that can assist with your overall cost of attendance.
