Our Tutoring Approach

Manya – The Princeton Review’s tutoring is a personalized and one-on-one coaching service based on the Socratic Method of teaching where the tutor takes into consideration all the learning needs of a student and helps them reach their end goal by giving them the individual attention they are unable to get at school or in group learning classes.

With over 20 years of educational experience, we help our students excel across a wide range of subjects by focusing on:

  • Concepts & fundamentals strengthening
  • Doubts Clarification/Q&A
  • Setting individual Goals and working towards the same

We seek to partner with your child in their learning journey by making them independent learners and helping them gain mastery in their subject areas.

How Our Academic Tutoring Helps

  • Each of our session begins by setting a goal and agenda after a brief discussion with the student on his current learning need as well as reviewing the road map to ensure that expectations are set clearly
  • The approach involves identifying the style of learning that works best for the student and adjusting the tutoring style accordingly
  • Tutoring also starts with meeting the student where s/he is at current level and working with them to get them to the level of conceptual understanding that they need vs mere superficial engagement
  • An assignment is given at the end of every session to gauge the students understanding level. Each session is monitored for the highest standard of professionalism and respect for the student
  • A Weekly progress tracker, assessment feedback and assignment performance details are shared after every class

Why kids need one on one tutoring?

In 1984, educational psychologist Benjamin Bloom found that students who receive one-on-one tutoring perform two standard deviations better than students who learn in conventional scenarios—a single teacher and a group of students, for example. The two standard deviations are the “2 Sigma” referred to in the 2 Sigma Problem

We follow a Socratic method of teaching,
The oldest and still the most powerful, teaching tactic for fostering critical thinking of a student is Socratic teaching. In Socratic teaching we focus on giving students questions, not answers. This method of teaching relies on asking questions to help students learn. We model an inquiring, probing mind by continually probing into the subject with questions until the student understands the subject. In the Socratic method, the classroom experience is a shared dialogue between teacher and student. It has been proven to be more effective than teaching the lesson directly as a lecture.
