To study for the GRE in two months, you need to reckon the following:
Commit to the GRE study schedule that you have drawn out. Making a plan is essential for staying consistent throughout your preparation journey, as procrastination is bound to set in and you may give up entirely.
We also suggest: Schedule your GRE mock test dates on a calendar and stick to them! You will be able to stay committed to the rest of your study plan if you take the mock tests on the scheduled dates.
Manya -The Princeton Review offers a comprehensive range of materials to effectively prepare you for the GRE Exam :
Divide your available time into two parts as shown below:
After every GRE test, devote at least an hour to review the test. The Princeton Review Student GRE Portal gives a detailed review of each and every GRE question. Make notes to understand your mistakes. Figure out your areas of strengths and weaknesses.
A systematic GRE study plan is better than a rushed one. Sixty days of GRE study Schedule may seem very long but time can quickly slip by. Study at least six days a week for four hours each day practicing both on GRE quant and on GRE verbal.
How to study for the GRE? Here is a detailed GRE Study plan particularly for those pursuing a Manya-TPR GRE course.
Keenly watch all the GRE video lessons. Note down all the strategies and make a list of all the POE tools for the different GRE question types. Target to learn at least 10 words everyday aggregating about 150 words in two weeks for the GRE Exam. Follow up watching the videos by practicing GRE questions related to the topic covered in the video.
Unless you apply the techniques and strategies immediately after learning them, your GRE scores won’t improve. The online GRE portal has several easy, medium, and hard drills apart from the drills with DrillSmart technology that determines the difficulty level of the next GRE drill depending on your performance on each drill.
Start with the GRE questions from the manual, move to easy GRE drills in the ETS Official Guide, one GRE drill of each question type from the supplement and all the easy drills related to the topics on the student portal.
At the end of the second week of one month GRE study plan, take the next test — apply the techniques and the strategies, and review the GRE test. Take note of the areas that need attention.
Set a realistic goal for GRE score improvement.
Identify the GRE question types you need to improve on and watch those videos again. Focus on the drills in the Manual and the medium drills on the portal and the Official Guide. Attempt the mixed bag workshop 1 questions in the GRE Supplement.
Pick up fifty words you learnt from the vocabulary list and thread them into sentences. This will help you remember the words better.
Take GRE practice tests 3 and 4, one at the end of each week. Focus on time, strategy, and the global techniques.
Pay special attention to reviewing the GRE tests. Which areas have you improved in? Was the time enough or did you rush through the latter part of the GRE sections? How did you fare on the vocabulary GRE questions?
List out all the areas that you still appear to be weak in.
It’s time to strengthen all the areas that you are weak in. Focus on building your GRE vocabulary further. Make colorful flash cards and memorize words with the help of roots, suffixes, and prefixes. Focus on hard drills from the portal, the Official Guide, and the GRE Supplement. Attempt the mixed bag workshop 2 from the GRE Supplement.
Take one GRE test at the beginning and one at the end of the seventh week of the GRE Study Schedule. Take the first ETS Power-prep test at the beginning of the last week and the second one three days before your GRE test date. Take the GRE tests without any distraction.
Finally complete any remaining questions from the Official Guide, the GRE Supplement, and the Student Portal.
Don’t ignore the GRE AWA (Analytical Writing Assessment) section; rather take every practice test with the AWA section; never skip it.
Start by reading the chapter about GRE AWA writing skills from the GRE Supplement and the Official Guide. Follow this up by reading all the scored essays — both issue and argument — in the Official Guide.
Spend 30 minutes on task. Pick up issue topic from the ETS pool of GRE AWA questions for practice, and write two essays every week. Make sure to make a GRE Study plan before you start typing. Spend 1-2 minutes brainstorming on the topic, spend 2-3 minutes organizing your thoughts, and then start typing out the essay.
Typing the essay should not take more than 20 to 23 minutes. Spend the remaining time to proofread your essay. Make sure your essays are lengthy enough, cogent, and free of grammatical and spelling errors.
