Understanding the New SAT® Score Report

New SAT® Score Report –

You take the SAT Exam and then come the weeks of waiting for the SAT Results. At times you’re hopeful, at other times fearful. Most of the time, you try not to think of the results. Whatever your state of mind, the time will eventually pass, and you will get your SAT score. Let’s fast forward to results day to see and understand the new score report.

Let’s assume that this is the SAT score report of a student :

Total Score

Total SAT score ranges from 400 to 1600. The total score is the sum of your section scores on SAT.

Total scores in the SAT Exam for each SAT Subject Test have a range of 200–800. To calculate a student’s raw score, adding a point for each correct answer and then subtracting a partial point for each incorrect answer is required.

SAT Section Scores

The SAT section scores for Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and for Math each range from 200 to 800. To arrive at The SAT Section Scores, Student’s raw score needs to be converted, which is exactly the number of questions a student answered correctly. There’s no penalty for wrong guesses.

SAT Percentiles

SAT Percentiles can assess your performance. The SAT percentage of a student shows whether a student stands among the crowd or stands out of it. One kind of percentile assesses your score to the scores of a respective group of 11th- and 12th-grade students in the USA. The other kind of percentile compares your score to those of typical SAT test takers.

SAT Benchmarks

The SAT benchmark is yet another way to analyze a student’s performance.. A checkmark shows you scored at or above the benchmark. This shows whether you’re ready for college when you graduate.

Test Scores

Test scores for the Reading, Writing, Language, and Math section in SAT range from 10 to 40.

The scores for SAT Reading and for SAT Writing and Language contribute equally to your section score for Evidence-Based Reading and Writing.

Cross-Test Scores and Sub Scores on SAT

Cross-test scores in SAT have a range of 10–40, and subscores have a range of 1–15. They help a student to see their strengths and weaknesses and focus on improvement.

Sub Scores For Language Tests in SAT

The Language with Listening Test scores include subscores, which have a 20–80 range. For the French, German, and Spanish Listening Tests, the reading subscore counts twice as much as the listening subscore. For the Chinese, Japanese, and Korean Listening Tests, subscores are weighted equally.

Sending Your Test Scores of SAT

Score reports for SAT were already sent to the colleges and other institutions that a student chose when they registered. Additional SAT score reports can be required after scores have been released.

SAT answer sheets are scanned with a Machine. If your marks pass the published guidelines for marking the answer sheet, the scanning and scoring of your answer sheet take place, which is combined with quality control procedures, which are designed to deliver an accurate score.

Let’s consider your score is very different from what you expected it to be, you can order hand score verification. Hand score verification may be ordered up to five months after your test date, and it costs $55. If you use a fee waiver to take the test, you’ll get a 50% discount. Before you order, you should know that:

  • Your Answer sheet will be corrected and a new report will be given your score if you made an obvious mistake marking your answer sheet (the score may go up or down).
  • We won’t change your score if you didn’t use a No. 2 pencil, fill bubbles in completely, or follow certain other instructions.

  • I remember when I first got my SAT report it was too overwhelming, Lots of data just staring at me in my face. Fortunately I got a good score in the SAT exam so at least I didn't have the double trouble of being disappointed as well. However, experience of some of my friends dictates that one should carefully analyze their SAT report for future (whether it be improvement or interviews).
