Essential Tests for Studying Abroad

Some of the most common and important exams to studying abroad include SAT, LSAT, TOEFL, GRE, GMAT, IELTS. There might be a requirement of clearing more than one exam as well. Details of some of the most relevant exams are as follows:

TOEFL – The full form for TOEFL is Test of English as a Foreign Language. It tests the English skill of a student, which can be used in the academic setup. When non-English speaking natives aspire to study in English Colleges and Universities, they need to clear the TOEFL exam. It also serves as a scholarship requirement. The score is valid for a few years and the latest score is considered. This is the most preferred English language test for admission across the world.

GMAT – The full form for GMAT is Graduate Management Admission Test. If a student aspires to get admitted into graduate business administration programmes like MBA, Masters of Accountancy or something alike mainly in the US, he/she needs to clear GMAT. It is a computer adaptive exam that includes Mathematics and English. The test mainly measures the aptitude of the student for gaining success in graduate business studies.

GRE – The full form for GRE is Graduate Record Exam, which tests if a student is ready to pursue graduate-level work. There are various sections of the test, which include verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking and verbal reasoning related and are not domain specific.

SAT – The full form for SAT is Scholastic Aptitude Test, which is taken when the US is chosen as the study abroad destination. It is a test for high-school students with no minimum criteria for marks. Nonetheless, there are specific colleges that require good SAT along with the academic scores. The sections of the test include critical thinking skills, analytical abilities, and problem-solving skills in mathematics, critical reading, and writing. It is a method of demonstrating student’s competitiveness and likelihood to succeed.

ACT – The full form for the ACT is American College Test, which ensures that there are some common measures to judge all the students, which will help the admission officers to predict the academic standard of the students applying. The four sections of the test are Reading, Mathematics, English and Science Reasoning. The content of the test includes the school curriculum.
