In a normal scenario, under the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program (PGWPP), if an international student pursues a course via online or distance learning outside of Canada, that time period is deducted from the length of the work permit.
However, in this situation where the entire mankind is reeling under the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Canada as a nation provides a ray of hope to international students.
In this situation, students of Fall 2020 intake may begin their classes while outside Canada, and complete up to 50% of their program via the online mode, if they cannot travel to Canada sooner. The PGWPP eligibility will not be affected for international students whose Fall 2020 course will be delivered online, due to COVID-19. This relaxation is applicable till 31st December 2020.
This again proves that currently, Canada has become the most promising country which is working in favour of supporting international students. Following the league, New Zealand is planning to take some action on opening its borders soon.
