IGCSE has passing grades from A* to G, with A* being the highest grade, followed by A to G. There is also a grade U which implies ungraded.

A* is the best grade and G is the lowest. Each grade translates into Percentage Uniform Marks ( PUM). This is not the total mark obtained for the syllabus. It is a point on the common scale for all syllabuses to show whether the candidate’s performance is close to the top, middle, or bottom of the grade.

Grade PUM Range
A* 90-100
A 80-89
B 70-79
C 60-69
D 50-59
E 40-49
F 30-39
G 20-29
U UNGRADED

From the table, we see that a Grade B translates to a PUM of 70-79. While this may not be the best grade but is still fairly good. A good grade can help you seek further admission, it is also necessary to remember that IGCSE prepares you for further higher education. While trying to focus on the grades rigorously, it’s better not to lose focus on the core learning.

How much do you think your IGCSE grades would impact your admission into a good university? Your IGCSE grades may not directly impact your admission but definitely helps understand you as a person. Good grades in IGCSE and senior levels shows consistency, passion and motivation but a fairly average grade in IGCSE and good grades in senior school shows your ability to improve. So don’t get too stressed out thinking of your IGCSE grades and digress from the learning, but definitely yes, don’t fail it though!!!
