U.S. News & World Report Announces the 2023 Best Colleges Rankings

Earlier in this month, the U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in education rankings, disclosed the 2021 U.S. News Best Colleges. The coronavirus pandemic has affected the current students in various schools and universities as well as prospective students to a great extent. It has posed new challenges and factors for students who have plans to study abroad. The following information is data-driven and thus beneficial to understand higher education options.

The latest edition of the U. S. News has included updated methodology to shortlist Best colleges. This methodology is inclusive of issues which impact students and their families directly. For instance, new procedures consider timely topics such as social mobility, student debt, and examine-blind admissions policies.

• The U.S. News has added two new ranking indicators: 1) Average amount of accumulated federal loan debt among full-time undergraduate prospects, and 2) Percentage of full-time undergraduates (borrowed federal loans) in a graduating class
• New graduate indebtedness indicators, such as graduation and retention rates, and social mobility – now account for 40% of the Best Colleges methodology, up from 35% last year.
• Historically, Black Colleges and Universities 2021 ranking is modified with these two new graduate indebtedness indicators and reducing the weights for student excellence and alumni giving.
• Earlier the schools which did not make use of SAT or ACT scores in their admissions process are now included in the rankings.
• Computer science programs have a new ranking, which means over 400 schools are added.
