GRE Exam Dates 2024

GRE Verbal Practice

The GRE exam is conducted at about 1000 test centers in more than 160 countries. It is offered as a computer-delivered test year-round at most locations around the world and as a paper-delivered test where computer-delivered testing is not available. In India, GRE is a computer-delivered test and it is administered on all days, throughout the year.

How many times can one take the GRE Exam? A retest is possible every 21 days, but not more than five times in 12 months (this includes attempts where you canceled the scores). There are no set dates for GRE exams. The student can take the GRE exam on any date that is available at various test centers.

Be an early bird and book your slot!

When Should You Take the GRE?

Candidates usually get concerned as to when they should take the GRE exam. According to experts, the best time to take your first GRE is 45 days before your university’s admission deadline. Candidates would have enough time to retake the GRE General test if their GRE scores did not turn out as expected.

How To Choose GRE Exam Dates?

But while booking the test, please keep your university deadlines in mind because these scores need to be reached before or by the application deadline. After taking the test, you will have the option to accept or cancel the scores before viewing the scores. If you accept, the scores would reach the designated universities in about 10 to 15 days and then a further couple of days for the university to process them. Hence, while deciding on your test date, please keep in mind this time frame and leave enough window for the process to be completed before the deadlines.

  • There are no fixed dates for the GRE test as it is administered all year round.
  • You can register for the computer-delivered GRE either online or via phone.
  • You can also decide to take the GRE in the designated test centers or GRE at home.

Upcoming GRE Exam Dates 2024 in India

Candidates will be relieved to know that the GRE Computer Based format is conducted throughout the year. Every month in India, the GRE Computer Delivered Test is held on all days except weekends and public/general scheduled holidays. It’s up to you to choose the best GRE dates.

The majority of cities only have one exam facility. Larger cities may have more, but they also have a lot more people taking the test. This limits your options because seats at your preferred test center may not be available on several GRE exam days.

You’ll have to pick a date based on availability as well as your personal circumstances. The GRE at Home test is offered 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and appointments can be scheduled as soon as 24 hours after you register.

When is the Best Time to Take the GRE?

Anyone who wishes to take the computer-based GRE test has a lot of options. It can be difficult to choose a date, so here are a few suggestions to help you limit your options. At least two weeks before the application deadline, schedule a test. What would be the impact of the result on your other commitments? Are you in a good enough mental state to ace the exam? – If you are stressed for reasons unrelated to the exam, you should postpone it until a later date.

Most Popular Time to Take the GRE Exam

The most popular times are late summer and fall, which correspond with the application deadlines for most graduate programs. If you want to take the GRE during this time, you should sign up for the test as soon as possible. The sooner the GRE exam date approaches the application deadline, the faster the available spaces will fill up. Remember that GMAT and medical board exam centers are generally the same as GRE test centers, and you’ll be competing with them all for a place.

When should I take the GRE?

There are two factors that decide when you should take the GRE test. The first one is your readiness. Based on your practice, you will know where you stand and if you are ready to take the test and reach the target score. The second factor is the university requirements. It takes 10 to 15 days for ETS to share your score with the selected recipients. Also if you plan to repeat the test in case of low scores, you have to make leeway for that too.

How many sections are there for the GRE?

There are six sections on the GRE. The first section on the test is the Analytical Writing Assessment. There are two verbal and quants sections. An experimental or research section is also part of the test. This could be a quant or a verbal section and is unscored. The AWA section is for one hour; the verbal sections are for 30 minutes each, and the quant sections are for 35 minutes each. The experimental or the research section could be for 30 or 35 minutes.

Is the GRE offered year round?

Yes, GRE is offered almost year around in most of countries in Prometric centers. In the centers outside the Prometric network, the tests happen only on specific dates. During the Covid pandemic, ETS introduced the GRE home test that can be taken around the clock and seven days a week.

When to book GRE Test Dates?

Book for the GRE test when you are ready. Though the test is offered through out the year, it is administered on first come and first serve basis. Also it takes 10 to 15 days for the scores to reach the designated recipients. Keep these at the back your mind while booking the test dates.

  • Verbal score – this ranges between 130-170
  • Quantitative score – this ranges between 130-170.

These individual scores are accompanied by the corresponding percentiles.

Generally, the total score is considered as the sum of the Verbal and Quant score which ranges from 260-340.

What Is The New GRE Exam Syllabus?

In August 2011, the revised GRE pattern was launched. This is largely considered to be the most significant change in pattern in the exam’s history.
