GMAT Cut-offs for Top Indian MBA Colleges 2020

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is an assessment test taken by students who are aspiring to pursue a management course at one of the business schools around the world. Almost every business school has a similar application process with students applying their candidature with an application form along with their GMAT score.

The GMAT cut-offs at Indian B Schools 

With Indian B-schools accepting GMAT scores, it has become an essential part of management admission procedures across the country. These management schools create the best management professionals and thus rely on GMAT scores as their eligibility criteria. It is not possible for the b-schools to admit every student, and hence, this test helps them in making the selection. Given below is the list of GMAT cut-off for Indian B Schools: 

IIM Ahmedabad

This institute asks for the highest GMAT score for Indian B Schools because it was ranked number one in 2018 by the National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF) and many times before. The programs offered by the institute are Post-graduate Programme in Management for Executive (PGPX), Post-graduate Programme in Management (PGP), Post-graduate Programme in Food and Agribusiness Management (PGP-FABM), and Fellow Programme in Management (FPM). The GMAT cut-off for these courses varies from 695 to 728. 

IIM Bangalore

IIM Bangalore was ranked second by the National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2018 and accepts a GMAT score of 710 for its Executive Post Graduate Diploma in Management (EPGP). This score is among the highest average GMAT score for Indian b-schools, the other being IIM Ahmedabad.

IIM Kolkata

After IIM Bangalore and Ahmedabad, this institute is also among the institutes that accept GMAT cut-off for Indian b-schools, more than 700. The institute ranked third on the list by NIRF in 2018, with rank 12 in Asia and 111 in QS Global 250 MBA Rankings 2019. The most common program offered by IIM Kolkata is Post-graduate Programme in Management for Executives (PGPEX), with PGPEX-VLM and FPM being other programs. 

IIM Lucknow

With NIRF ranked fourth in 2018, the institute offers a full-time residential program in International Programme in Management for Executives (IPMX) that require candidates to have a GMAT score of at least 620. 

IIM Indore

IIM Indore accepts the higher range of average GMAT scores for Indian b-schools for a wide range of academic programs that it has to offer. All these programs require students to apply with their GMAT score of more than 700 and some of those programs are Post-graduate Programme in Management (PGP), Fellow Programme in Management (FPM), Fellow Programme in management-Industry (FPM Industry), and Five Year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM). 

Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad

This business school had evolved itself since 2001 when it first started the management programs. The school accepts the GMAT score for its Post Graduate Program in Management (PGP) with average cut-off 600 – 770. ISB is known for its international exposure with its collaboration with international universities like London Business School, Wharton School, Pennsylvania, and Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. 

Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai

Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai is among the most renowned private Indian b-schools accepting GMAT scores and was ranked 16 by NIRF in 2018. The GMAT score accepted by the institute for PGDM, PGPM, and various executive programs is 680. 

IMT Ghaziabad

IMT Ghaziabad is among India’s premier institutes for management studies, that offer full-time, part-time and collaborative dual country programs. For its full-time course Post Graduate Diploma in Management, students need the GMAT score of 690. The same score is also required for PGDM executive program. Its distance learning courses make it the most distinct management institute as it allows students to learn while they earn. 

S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai

The institute is a part of the Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan group and is located in the heart of the country’s business hub, Mumbai. The institute has always been on the list of most desired institutes of management aspirants because of its location, courses offered, and facilities available. The GMAT cut-off for various courses at S.P. Jain institutes is 650, while it accepts the CAT and XAT scores as well. The courses offered at the institute are PGDM, PGPM, Executive Management Program, and Family Managed Business Programme, with some short-term programs. 

XLRI Jamshedpur

With the acceptance of GMAT scores more than 650, XLRI was founded by Fr. Quinn Enright, S.J. in 1949, in the city of Jamshedpur. It offers a wide variety of programs in HR, business management, personnel management, general management, industrial relations, and executive programs. The institute has witnessed the journey of Indian independence and continued to impart education following its vision of “renewing the face of the earth” all these years. Ranked tenth by NIRF in 2018, the institute has a history of sharing knowledge.

  1. It should be noted that GMAT exam is accepted by these Indian premier B-Schools only for international/NRI students. An Indian Student would need to give the CAT or XAT exam only, respectovely.
