Post Study Stay Back Option

Japan relaxed post-study work visa rules in 2018 in an effort to encourage graduates to stay in the country. As a result, graduates are permitted to work in any position as long as they earn at least 3 million yen.

The type of work permit or employment visa you’ll need in Japan is determined by the work you’ll be doing. Foreign nationals can apply for almost 30 different work and long-term visas in Japan, depending on their occupation. It’s important to keep in mind that the visa only applies to a specified field. If you shift employment and your new job is in a different field, you’ll need to update your residency status.
